Here comes Manuel Perez new single and project: Mangotronique blends latin-mambo style rhythms patterns and techno Detroit/Chicago inspired atmospheres.
The single consists of four different takes developing variations out of one groove formula. Either Euro Mango, Frozen Mango, Peeled Mango or Acid Mango will find its way in creative dj’s sets, whatever inspiration they will get while rocking any dancefloor. This release sounds very characteristic of the vibe that Manuel has developed through his long career career as music producer and DJ, and reveals both latin, funk and electronic aspects of his large music culture and experience.

Artist background

Being the one who created Wrong Steps in Sweden, and more recently part of Marendadisc - artist collective based in south-west France - Manuel Perez’ reputation has also been built upon his very long and international DJ career.
Manuel began by the mid-eighties as resident DJ in the best clubs in south west France and Catalonia.
At that time he introduced the early house and techno to a wider audience in that area, working for clubs legendary clubs like Château de Fitou or Rachdingue, before to participate to early rave events, often inviting MC’s and live musicians to perform in his sets.
Soon enough, his reputation expanded overseas which lead him to move to Stockholm in 1993. Since then, Manuel has been Djing nearly all over and he has been billed next to the biggest names of the electronic music industry.

Manuel Perez first important release was the ‘Strong Accents’ single on Loop Records, produced together with Alexi Delano and Cari Lekebusch.
Healthy releases followed on labels like Plumphouse, Loop, G-Force and Step2House, as well as remixes for Warner and MNW. Keeping on producing recordings, he also had the opportunity to co found the label Svek before launching his Wrong Steps Productions studio and label project.

In 1996 he met French percussionist Philippe Monrose and they created Spiro Projecto, an electronic fusion act involving diverse international guest musicians and vocalists.
Their mutual studio and stage experience has enabled them to create Spiro Concerto, a percussive live act delivering serious dance-floor action on an exotic tip.
Long before world-lounge-electronic genre became trendy, some of their work was released via obscure 12′ EP’s and singles, and later was licensed to many compilations like ‘Hotel Costes” and labels like Yoshitoshi or Turbo.
Many of their titles have been remixed by artists - i.e. Raph Dumas, Jori Hulkkonen, YMC - or even The Beloved.

Through the years, Manuel has invested time and energy on studio activities, produced, mixed or mastered several albums for quite a few record companies. He also released collaborations with artist like Pawel Kobak, Fredrik Stark, Jesper Dahlbäck, Microman, Nico Bellotto, Alberto Vicente, Mourad Sliti, Ron de Cuba, Brice
Bertran, Aqua Bassino, Martinez…
On the remix list some relevant work has also been done for Brooklyn Funk Essentials, Martin Venetjoki, Håkan Lidbo, Dalminjo, MinimalBCN, Max Cherry, Ctrl+Alt+Supp, Uninvited
