DJ MOURAD - Plink Plank EP
LACE023
The Plink Plank EP from DJ Mourad is an exciting three tracker of technoid grooves. DJ Mourad aka Mourad Sliti grew up in Tunis and currently resides in Sweden.
He began DJing in the mid 80s and by the 90s was making his own tracks that have appeared on labels such as GForce, Wallshaker or Selekta.
He has often contributed to the Lace catalogue before – as the third member of the family project Tunis Diaspora with his brothers DJ Nabil and DJ Dali, also remixing Hakan Lidbo, Pawel Kobak, Alton Miller, Aqua Bassino and Manuel Perez - and makes a welcome return with this EP.
- PLINK PLANK is a key driven stormer. It features layered percussion, throbbing bass work and of course cool keys.
- I ALWAYS KNEW is a more serene affair. Purring synths, steady beats and angelic keys provide the magic here.
- FOREIGN CARPENTERS is an acid stomper. The track takes its strength from sturdy beats, gurgling acid and reliable keys.
WHAT THEY THINK:
Rob Warner “Madness! Loving ‘Plink Plank’ big time.”
Andrew Duke “Awesome!”
Sam Labelle “Wow, I love these tracks. A real intriguing production. All three tracks are in my playlist!”
Dean Serafini “I’ve always found that Mourad’s work defies strict definitions and crosses musical boundaries. There’s certainly plenty to apreciate in this EP with all the tracks making a positive impression from the outset.”
Desy Balmer “DJ Mourad rocks! Deadly EP. Full Support!”
Sammy Rock “Dj Mourad delivers a one-two punch with an eclectic release. Spacey keys and deep beats is what makes this E.P special. A great combination of instruments is delivered in this package. Full Support!“

ALTON MILLER - Make You Want Me EP
LACE022

Alton Miller originally joined the Lace family with the three part Everyday I Do release. Here he returns with a brilliant two tracker. Make You Want Me offers two slices of stunning deeper house that feature beautiful instrumentation and the required dancefloor kick. This release shows the deeper side of Lace. It comes after Bonnie Drasko’s powerful To The Rhythm EP and Calico Presents Christian Djor’s sturdy Pour Homme EP.
Detroit’s Alton Miller’s first exposure to music came from the sounds of Motown, Parliament-Funkadelic and Santana in the 70s. This was followed by an exposure to inspiring DJs such as Ron Hardy in the 80s and a friendship with a certain Derrick May. Miller was one of the founders of the seminal Music Institute club in his home city and began DJing in the 80s. A conga drummer by the early 90s, Alton Miller began his production work around a similar time. His first outings appeared on Derrick May’s Fragile, Kevin Saunderson’s KMS and Serious Grooves. Since then, his music has appeared on labels as diverse as Moodymann’s KDJ, 20:20 Vision and Clone. He has also released albums entitled Rhythm Exposed, Stories in Bohemia and Souls Like Mine which have appeared via Distance, Peacefrog/Track Mode and R2 respectively.
- MAKE YOU WANT ME is a grooving escapade with smiling synths and sweet keys.
- TURNING ON is a similarly touching effort, which features beautiful keys and cool live bass work.
WHAT THEY THINK:
Dr Motte “Deep shit! Great!“
Andrew Duke “Superb! Will use in the mix and likely chart!“
Q-Burns “Superb musical bits here … not necessarily explosive, but generally intriguing and ear pleasing. Turning On slightly edges it for the fave with it’s steady build and buzzing synths. I’ll use it in this month’s radio show.“
Greg Eversoul “Nice deep grooves. Intelligent stuff. Deep and dirty. Love this.“
Shane Johnson (Fish Go Deep) “Great raw house music. Will be playing on radio and dancefloors!‘
Dalminjo “Really nice tracks!“

BONNIE DRASKO - To The Rhythm EP
LACE021

Bonnie Drasko returns to Lace Recordings after the success of his revivalist yet relevant Acid & Fresh EP. To The Rhythm is an exciting three tracker of explosive club music. Taking in a range of old school and new school influences, the cuts will satisfy a range of house and techno audiences. This EP adds to the diversity of the Lace catalogue, following on from Calico presents Christian Djor’s strong Pour Homme and Alvina Red & Manuel Perez’s hypnotic Palm Strings.
Bonnie Drasko is Marius Fabrega, a DJ and producer from Northern Catalonia. Born in 1981, Drasko has had a long love affair with music. He started his musical studies aged 8 and later discovered the joys of electronic music. Aged 18, Bonnie Drasko moved to Barcelona, where he fell under the spell of the city’s club scene, inspired by sounds emanating from Detroit, Chicago and Berlin. He cites the likes of Laurent Garnier, Jean-Michel Jarre and Pablo Bolívar as influences. In 2004, Drasko started DJing and making his own music. In the last five years, he has DJ’d at many clubs and parties. Production work soon followed, with the Acid & Fresh EP appearing on Polytone Germany before the aforementioned outing on this label.
- TO THE RHYTHM is a driving floor filler with cool keys and thrusting beats.
- UNTIL SEPTEMBER is a dark yet dreamy techy effort, where fat drums, flying synths and hypnotic keys meet.
- ROBOTICAL DOG is a swirling synth driven stormer with a mean acid streak.
WHAT THEY THINK:

CALICO presents CHRISTIAN DJOR - Pour Homme EP
LACE020

This is a welcome return for Calico, a Swedish producer known for striking electronic efforts.
Here he reactivates the Christian Djor alias, which he originally used back in 1997.
Pour Homme is an on point release, featuring three aromatic efforts of the solid house variety. Here Lace Recordings have come up trumps again, with Calico joining a roster that includes DJ Mourad, Alton Miller, Bonnie Drasko, Raph Dumas, Aqua Bassino, Alvina Red or Mark O’Sullivan.
Calico aka Christian Lappalainen was born in the early 70s. His first taste of music came from new wave bands such as Depeche Mode and Duran Duran. By the late 80s he was a radio DJ and progressed to clubs in the mid 90s. His debut release as a producer was Unfinished Diary - Chapter One, the first release on the legendary Swedish label Svek. Since then he has released music on labels such as Deep Touch, Selekta and Audio Beyond. Calico has collaborated on releases with DJ Mourad, Fredrik Stark, Pawel Kobak and Manuel Perez, and remixed the likes of Robert Miles, Covenant and Riviera. Intended for more eclectic outings, he originally used the Christian Djor moniker in 1997 for a track that appeared on the Wrong Steps sampler volume 3.
POUR HOMME is a clean cutting jacker, featuring gutsy keys and a thumping rhythm section.
BOP ‘TIL U DROP inspires you to do just that, courtesy of its grooving synth work and heavenly strings.
SUNDAY RAIN is a calm key led winner, where sturdy beats and sweet synths assist.
WHAT THEY THINK:
Robert “Big Rob” Martinez ” Great package, different vibe for each song, can play the entire EP thru the nite !!!“
Dr. Motte “Wow! That’s deep house! Love the classic!”
Desy Balmer “This is an outstanding EP. Love all three trax but would be supporting Bop til U drop until I drop myself. This is deep house at its raw best. Its been a while but well worth the wait for such quality house music. Full Support - chart and play. Nice one!!!“
Aaron Carl “Welcome back, Calico! Bop ‘Til U Drop is awesome!“
Kazuumi Ishii “Nice and lovely deep stuff!“
Sammy Rock “Calico is back!! It’s been a very long time since this producer was in the scene and now returns with a 3 E.P banger on Lace Recordings. This joint takes you on a musical journey from deep to tech-house which I enjoy very much and so will you. “Summer Rain” is my pick!“

ALVINA RED & MANUEL PEREZ - Palm Strings
LACE019

“Palm Strings” is an outstanding modern electronic production by Alvina Red and Lace mainstay Manuel Perez.
This is another excellent outing for Lace Recordings, which follows on from Pawel Kobak’s solid 9966 EP and the brilliant revivalist acid house grooves of Bonnie Drasko’s Acid And Fresh EP. It is a slow burning technoid effort, full of mystery and intrigue. Influenced by the original techno sounds of Detroit and a more musical tradition, “Palm Strings” is a magical instrumental composition. On this release, the original is backed by a sublime house version named Orchestra Dub, and the tougher Machines Dub.
- Original: In original form, Palm Strings is a mesmerising technoid effort. Watery keys and a reverberating bassline sit behind the breathtaking strings on the original version.
- Orchestra Dub: The Orchestra Dub is a gliding house version. Here, the beautiful strings are laid over calm chords, animated keys and simple beats.
- Machines Dub: The Machines Dub is a darker affair. Sickening acid, quick fire percussion and a huge bassline do the damage on this mix.
WHAT THEY THINK:
Rob Warner “Nothing to say here but: Wow, outstanding!”
Laurent Garnier “Very musical indeed. Will play everywhere! ”
Hakan Lidbo “What a tune!!! The original is just amazingly futuristic. Well done!”
Dean Serafini “I think this is one of those tracks I’m going to love with time…”
DJ Lady D “This is an excellent release. All the different treatments of the song are radical considering what’s being released today. Love the composer’s edge on the original, the house effect on the dub and the acid touch for the machines mix… Magnifique!”
Sammy Rock “Here we have something weird, unique and obscure.A very electronic affair with nice strings and dark beats that only those with an open-mind can comprehend.I’ve been feeling these different styles of music other than the norm.If you enjoy Gino Soccio or any track with that flava, then you will enjoy this package”
DJ Morpheus “It’s really excellent!”
Carey Glyn (Scrap Processors) “Now this is a beautiful piece of music! Palm Springs is a multifaceted masterpiece. It proves to be true to the roots of techno. It has that timeless Detroit sound in which we give a nod to original creators of splendid imagery. I will be playing all of these mixes“

PAWEL KOBAK - 99/66
LACE018

The 9966 EP is the work of Pawel Kobak, who returns to the Marendadisc family with a floor destroying technoid two tracker. Ideal for techy, acid, electro and even proggy occasions, the monstrous groove on the lead track will leave audiences awestruck. Known for releasing house and techno in various forms, this release shows that the label is not afraid of tougher material.
Polish deep-house don Pawel Kobak grew up in Sweden and has lived in Stockholm, Paris, Barcelona and London. He is no stranger to the Marendadisc family, having released This Time on Lace back in 2003 and he remixed Håkan Lidbo‘s Senegal Gals for the 2008 release on Enjoy. His first outing as a producer was a D&B track for Fluid Records in 1995, before he start releasing deep and techy house music. Over the years, his music has appeared on labels such as I! Records, Hi-Phen, Wrong Steps and Metamorphic. He runs the Route 33 imprint and is a versatile DJ.
Nine Tee Nine
This is an all powerful technoid stormer from Pawel Kobak that will suit various floors. Layers of swirling acid and magical synths create the huge groove on this monstrous track from Kobak.
Six Tee Six
Kobak goes a little deeper on this effort that will also please techy audiences. Trippy keys work their magic over crisp percussion, wobbly synths and a gliding bass on Six Tee Six.
WHAT THEY THINK:
Rob Warner “Solid tweaking groove on this one!“
Jori Hulkkonen “Great deep pumpin vibes, classic Pawel style!“
Rocco “Nine Tee Nine is the one im digging !! Well done for the floor with hypnotic synths !!“
Aaron Carl “It’s hard to choose a favorite… I plan to play BOTH of these!“

BONNIE DRASKO - Acid & Fresh EP
LACE017

More than twenty years have passed since the dawn of acid house, but there’s no shortage of people making tracks inspired by the original Chicago acid sounds. There seems to be a never ending revival going on, but most producers are happy making carbon copies of acid tracks or boring 303 based cuts. Thankfully, there are guys out there like Bonnie Drasko, who know the score. Drasko was only born in the early 80s, but his take on acid house is exciting and pays respect to past masters such as Mr. Fingers, Phuture and Adonis. Here, Drasko debuts on Lace with the mighty Acid And Fresh EP, which features two devastating dancefloors efforts and a handy remix from Manuel Perez. This EP adds to the diversity of the Lace catalogue, following on from the jazzied grooviness of Aqua Bassino and Manuel Perez’s Luv’Inside and Detroit house legend Alton Miller’s Everyday I Do.
Who is Bonnie Drasko? He is a Spanish DJ and producer named Marius F, who is from Northern Catalonia. Born in 1981, Drasko has had a long love affair with music. He started his musical studies aged 8 and later discovered the joys of electronic dance music. Aged 18, Bonnie Drasko moved to Barcelona, where he fell under the spell of the city’s club scene, inspired by sounds emanating from Detroit, Chicago and Berlin. In 2004, Drasko started DJing and making his own music, inspired by styles such as techno, house, minimal, disco and electro. In the last five years, he has DJ’d at many clubs and parties. He has released a number of his own tracks on digital labels and other platforms.
Acid And Fresh in original form is a magical acid groover. It features cool keys, snapping beats and wave after wave of acid.
The Manuel Perez remix of Acid And Fresh is a darker interpretation with added title snippets. Here the acid bubbles, the bass provides raw power and the keys add extra sparkle.
We Choose To Go To The Moon is a bumping deep house effort with added acid charm. It’s another surefire dancefloor hit with urgent stabs, flying keys and smart percussion.
WHAT THEY THINK:
Oscar Aguilera “For my the best release of the label… All my support!“
Don Ray “A nice EP that deserves a more than a few rotations, should be in any DJ’s crate for the next while…“
Michael Fossati “Lovely combination of acid elements with funked-up old skool house vibes on Acid & Fresh. We Choose To Go To The Moon is a cool deep house groover…“
Vincent Inc “ Will play it in my gigs & will chart it! “
Robert “Big Rob” Martinez “Great package. Will get full support!!‘

AQUA BASSINO & MANUEL PEREZ - Luv’ Inside
LACE016
Lace Recordings is proud to present its sixteenth release in the shape of a magical call to the dancefloor from Aqua Bassino and Manuel Perez named Luv’Inside. Deep and groovesome house with just a hint of jazziness is the flavour of the original, whilst there are remixes to suit different musical palates. This release follows on from three volumes of remixes of Detroit house master Alton Miller’s Everyday I Do. Lace Recordings is the work of a collective based in French Catalonia and has a number of international artists on its roster.
Edinburgh born Aqua Bassino aka Jason Robertson released his first material on Laurent Garnier and Eric Morand’s cult F-Communications imprint back in 1995. It was the beginning of a fruitful relationship that spawned a number of EP releases, and two albums, namely 1998’s Beat’s N Bobs and 2006’s Rue De Paris. Over the years, Aqua Bassino has remixed the likes of Norma Jean Bell, Joseph Malik, François Dubois and more recently Charles Webster. Jason Robertson now lives in Barcelona and here presents his first artist release on Lace, following on from a remix of Alton Miller’s Everyday I Do.
French Catalonian native Manuel Perez began DJing in mid 80s, playing early house and techno at clubs such as Salvador Dali’s Rachdingue. He spent the 90s living in Stockholm, spinning alongside the likes of many big name artist and DJ’s, in Scandinavia and many territorries. From the mid 90s he started releasing his own tracks on labels such as Loop, Plumhouse, G-Force and his own Wrong Steps, and has worked with artists such as Alexi Delano, Cari Lekebusch, Jesper Dählback or Pawel Kobak. Currently residing back in Northern Catalonia, Manuel Perez is a regular artist on Lace and sister label Enjoy, and remixes for labels like Wallshaker or Nice & Nasty.
The remixers on this release are DJ Mourad and Lace mainstay Raph Dumas.
Mourad hails from Tunis, Tunisia. A DJ since the mid 80s, he has appeared on the same bill as the likes of Jeff Mills, 4 Hero and DJ Pierre. Now based in Sweden, Mourad soon moved into production and has released music on labels such as Selekta, Wallshaker and Lace.
During the last 15 years, Perpignan based Raph Dumas has done it all. He counts record shop owner, label manager, DJ, stage performer, band leader, producer and many other music related occupations as his job in the last decade and a half. In recent times, he has cut an album alongside The Primaveras and has put out some brilliant dancefloor winning cuts in the shape of Multi-Electronics and A Rare Toy on Lace.
WHAT THEY THINK:
Aaron Carl “This is SOOOO funky! I will play this heavily!”
Llorca “Deep as hell!”
Jimpster “Original mix is sounding ace! Will be giving some spins for sure.”
DJ Lady D “Outstanding! Top notch.”
Pawel Kobak “It’s been a while since anybody reminded me why I like deep house but this does it for me’
