Uninvited Partners

“Special Guests”
Uninvited Partners is a duet born in 2003 and revealed by the Tilt Festival in 2004 when they win the remix competition.
With a strong musical personality and a wish to create new bounds, they work in close collaboration with Enjoy & Lace Recording team, which put them at a professional level.
Sure that music melts quicker than people, the two Parisian go on this experience by adapting all their work into an astounding live, always playing at the edge of techno, electro, rock and deep house. A tour in Spain and France follows the next summer. On this occasion, they don’t hesitate to adapt great classics such as a remix of Nirvana’s “smells like teen spirit” or a bootleg of Juan Atkins’ “Jazz is the teacher”. They perform in famous places such as The Rachdingue or The City Hall in Barcelona. At the end of this tour, they sign “evd 66 connected” with Rachdingue Records.
The two following years give birth to several collaborations, including one with Philippe Monrose (Brooklyn funk essential) under the aka Talking World such as “on the rock’s” which is published on “Urban Walking” compilation.
Our duet gets also more and more interested in music applied to imagery and creates for short films such as “Couleurs amères” and “Guirilandia”.
They also create for particular visual concepts such as “the white horse” for 20B4.
Still wanting to be on stage, the duet keeps on performing in famous places such as the school of art “Villa Arson” in Nice or the micro club “la macarena” in Barcelona.
Strongly influenced by the music from Detroit, Univited Partners begins to work on a long-time-thought project with the writing of a music part directly inspired by techno’s first movements.
This part, entitled “Pyramide”, is signed in 2007 on Deeplay Soultec label and is unanimously approved by famous Dj’s such as Laurent Garnier, D’julz or Carl Craig.
Now performing also as a dj set, Uninvited Partners creates an original concept by mixing jazz, reggae, hip hop and techno, the last remaining their first reference. They set up in Paris, at the “Cello” club. In July, following their success with “Pyramide” and their applaused performance as djs, the parisian duet is invited at the famous “Jazz Festival de Montreux”, which they close on the Jazz Café’s stage with Claude Nobs himself.
After a break in 2008, the parisian duet comes back in 2009 by signing a remix of Hakan Lidbo on Enjoy Recordings and another one of Alton Miller on Lace Recordings. Always looking for new challenges, they keep on imagining new concepts with their friends Manuel Perez, Harmonalogik, Labulo, Jean Cédric, Philippe Monrose, Raph Dumas, Geoffroy aka Mugwump, Aqua Bassino and the whole team of Marendadisc.
Max Cherry

“Trendy Not Only”
After being an active promoter of Enjoy and Lace record labels in Paris, Max Cherry, together with his mate Esteban, decided in 2004 to launch their own label : Vicky Productions.
In the beginning of 2005 Vicky Productions’ 2nd single (002) reached the second position of the “Dance charts” in England.
After developing further skills in music making and record promoting, Max Cherry stays now focused on his own productions for Vicky ; working on the side for eclectic projects such as Hektor (an electro-rock band he’s a part of) and Full Clip ( Hip-hop duet with a MC that is preparing his first album out in early 2010).
On the club scene, Max Cherry pays tribute in his mixes to all his musical influences, from brazilian beats to jazz through rock, funk and electro, in a permanent search of originality.
He’s, since recently, associated with another DJ, Franck Garcia, for a hi-energy 2 desks performance that should make some buzz in the months to come.
His last productions : one track “We love” and one remix for the hip-hop and house collective “Rouge à lèvres” consisting of Disiz La Peste, Grems and IVromain. Those tracks are included in the album “Démaquille-toi”.
Max has also been resident DJ in several prestigious clubs in Paris : le Wax, le Batofar, la Fabrique and performed as a guest in many others like le Pulp, le Nouveau Casino, le Dulcinea (Istambul), l’Opus, le Space , Le Mimo’s, Les Planches, Le Réservoir, L’Eurosport, Le MCM Café, Le Blau, Rachdingue (Espagne), l’Ailleurs (Toulouse), l’Absolut (Canet Plage), L’Africatek (Nîmes), le Bazar (Marseille), El Médiator…

LaBulo

“South’ sick sounds”
LaBulo was founded in 2002 by Julien Valette and Jerome Hoffmann. After several soundtracks specifically designed for theatre companies as well as museum and gallery exhibitions like works with the New York-based physical theatre company XP-Girl. This Montpellier-based duet started a live-act and some leftfield electronica dubby cool recordings. They appeared on the Rachdingue compilation in 2005 and got to remix « Pyramide » by Uninvited Partners (Paris) on the Swedish label Deeplay Soultec (Sweden). Also featuring on the Musik Discover compilation (Fr), they recorded a live session with 121 Records (Fr) and made a remix of the Swedish Hakan Lidbo. They just reased on the label Eklektik Records « 2 sides Vol3 ».
LaBulo plays an electro-house music with some sample action but with melodic qualities. A music made out of spontaneity, often composed while being performed live using laptop computers,… LaBulo’s music also borrows its harmonic lines from jazz. The instrumental texture, and the bouncing energy of its grooves, are influenced by funk music : Amplified guitars, Fender rhodes and electric bass blend with experimental sounds discovered in their research lab named BuloLab.
LaBulo live set gradually takes dancers from cosy entertaining house music to a more radical and polished sound environement.

Nice

“Science fiction’s best friend”
Nice started his career as a DJ in the mid-nineties while he turned his attention towards Acousmatic music, which he studied under Denis Dufour. He then became an interpreter of the Acousmonium Motus as well as keeping a keen interest for the world of electronic music.
Attracted by a mixture of creative universes, he officiates the dressing of sound through many different means: fashion shows, installations, contemporary dance… His compositions are laced with his experience, and we can immediately feel his love of precise, chiselled sounds that - combined with a strangeness and fantasy - are the psychedelic expression of his creative liberty.
Nice unleashed his first production in 1999, the funky track “Sport & Detente” on the very first release of Lace Recordings. Two house singles followed up under the project name Babydoll (Enjoy Recordings) with Raph Dumas. Many releases in various styles came out since those days, with outstanding work on labels like Wrong Steps, Ruby Breakfast, Karat Records, Soulsoleil, Very Important Music, VirMinisketch, Feinwerk, Stickymouk, Force Inc, DTC Records, Famille Electro…
As a DJ, Nice plays eclectic and electric sets all over Europe, mixing minimal, house, funky techno and other hidden gems. To be listened and danced to, his fresh mix keeps the dance-floor banging and he leaves his audience tired out but always smiling!

Alvina Red

“Nordic flower”
Born and raised in Stockholm Johanna Alvina has been learning music since she was six. By the age of ten, she had her first studio recording session performing backings for Abba.
As a teenager she has been part of professional choirs and got gigs such as the Nobel Prize Ceremony in Stockholm, but at the same time she was lead singer in a P-Funk band which made her write her first songs.
Some years after, while acheiving succesful music teacher studies, she met the Wrong Steps crew and started collaborating as song-writer, arranger, vocalist and keyboard player with Spiro Projecto, Martinez, Pawel Kobak. This lead her to have some releases with names like Jori Hulkkonen or Dan Curtin.
More recently Alvina has been recording songs with Hakan Lidbo, Raph Dumas, Alton Miller, and released instrumental deep tech-house tracks together with Manuel Perez for labels like Lace or Nice & Nasty.
Nilco

Raph Dumas

“Catalonian music hero”
Professional DJ for 15 years, former owner of a specialized record store, entrepreneur and event promoter, label manager, music producer and arranger, remix and recording artist, sound designer, stage performer, Raph Dumas is on the case again as the band leader of The Primaveras .
He remains true to his favourite instruments: a pair of decks and a Theremin. After creating Enjoy and Lace imprints some ten years ago - the first independent dance labels in the area of Catalunya - Raph has produced club classics like “Chicken Beats” or “Sarturday” (aka Baby Doll) and been involved in many fusion live and recording acts like Dumas & Chartron, Dumas & Barrachina or Jazzamix (with sax maestro Alex Augé).
His magic tricks also led him to remix artists such as Hakan Lidbo, Spiro Projecto, Pawel Kobak, Manuel Perez or Alton Miller or as well as he has released countless mixed compilations. More recently, he has recorded with famous musician Pascal Comelade and co-produced Renaud Papillon Paravel’s third album, before to release some highly aclaimed 7 inch singles and albums with his band “The Primaveras” and the established Catalonian orchestra “La Cobla Mil.Lenaria”.
After the release in 2009 of the album “Ode To Tanguy Jo” (Enjoy Recordings), his new solo album “Breaks d’Enfants” is on its way out. On the experimental side of his production, cutting edge DJ’s have been raving about his “Multi-Electronics” EP and “A Rare Toy” both out this year on Lace Recordings.

Manuel Perez

“Solid grooves and latin lifestyle”
Before to live a relaxed life in south of France - Obviously by the sea - Manuel Perez has done a few things:
Owner of Wrong Steps in Sweden, and more recently part of Marendadisc’s artist collective, Manuel Perez has been active in the modern dance music scene for several years as music producer and remixer. His reputation has also been built upon his very long and international DJ career.
Manuel began by the mid-eighties as resident DJ in the best clubs in south-west France and Catalonia. At the time he introduced early house and techno to a wider audience in that area, working for legendary clubs like Château de Fitou or Rachdingue. Further on he contributed to early rave events, often inviting MC’s and live musicians to perform in his sets.
Soon enough, his reputation expanded overseas and, for more than 20 years, Manuel has been Djing nearly all over and he has been billed next to the biggest names of the electronic music industry such as Dave Dorrel, Jazzy M, Derrick May, Rhythm Doctor, Soul 2 Soul, Underworld, System7, Paul Oakenfold, Dimitri, Eartha Kitt, Larry Heard, Bandulu, Alex Reece, The Aloof, Kid Creole, George Morel, Stonebridge, Luke Slater, Jori Hulkkonen, Joel Mull, Jesper Dahlbäck, Adam Beyer, Aqua Bassino, Paul Johnson, Robert Armani, Jon Marsh (The Beloved), Claude Monnet, Richard Dorfmeister, Erik Rug, Robert Hood, Aril Brikha, Ivan Smagghe, Steve Rachmad, Llorca, Marco Pasarani, Håkan Lidbo, Radio Bomb, Bob Sinclar, Jennifer Cardini, David Duriez, Patrick Pulsinger, to mention a few…
In 1993 he moved to Stockholm where he made new friends who pushed him to get more seriously involved in music production. As a result, his first important release was the “Strong Accents” single on Loop Records, recorded together with Alexi Delano and Cari Lekebusch. Healthy releases followed on labels like Plumphouse, Loop, G-Force and Step2House - as well as remixes for ie Warner and MNW - until he also had the opportunity to co found the label Svek before launching his Wrong Steps Productions studio and label project.
In 1996 he met French percussionist Philippe Monrose and they created Spiro Projecto, an electronic fusion act involving diverse international guest musicians and vocalists. Their mutual studio and stage experience has enabled them to create Spiro Concerto, a percussive live act delivering serious dance-floor action on an exotic tip. Long before world-lounge-electronic genre became trendy, some of their work was released via obscure 12″ EP’s and singles, and ended up later on many compilations like “Hotel Costes”, or labels like Yoshitoshi or Turbo. Many of their titles have also been remixed by artists - i.e. Raph Dumas, Jori Hulkkonen, YMC - or even The Beloved.
In 2003, Manuel decided to establish himself on the French Mediterranean coast, some kilometres north of Barcelona where he could eventually enjoy life in a peaceful environement, still DJing and producing, but also working as consultant for the local cultural institutions.
Always staying true to his vision of entertainment, Manuel has invested time and energy on studio activities, produced, mixed or mastered several albums for quite a few record companies. He also released collaborations with artist like Pawel Kobak, Fredrik Stark, Jesper Dahlbäck, Microman, Nico Bellotto, Alberto Vicente, Mourad Sliti, Ron de Cuba, Brice Bertran, Aqua Bassino, Martinez… On the remix list some relevant work has also been done for Brooklyn Funk Essentials, Martin Venetjoki, Håkan Lidbo, Dalminjo, MinimalBCN, Max Cherry, Ctrl+Alt+Supp, Uninvited Partners, Popcorn, The Delivery Boy, Tomm Jobb & Dj Janoz, Thérese Racket, Orlando Voorn, Mark O’Sullivan, Reynold, Alton Miller, Rennie Foster…
More to come soon as well as a bunch of new projects.
